Dear parents,
I hope your son/daughter has had a great start to French this year.
In week 5 (Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th March) we will be making and eating crêpes (French pancakes) in class to celebrate la chandeleur. The pancakes consist of flour, eggs, milk, butter, sugar, vanilla, lemon juice and salt. If your child has allergies or intolerances, they are welcome to bring in their own treat to consume whilst the others are eating the pancakes.
Merci beaucoup.

Parents and Children Workshop
To support our Student and Staff Workshop, we will also be running URSTRONG’s Language of Friendship on the evening of Wednesday 6th of March. (The cost of which is discounted by 50%). When you register for the workshop, simply enter the discount code QUINTILIAN to register and purchase your tickets at the discounted rate of $13.75 per person. For full details, please see the poster attached.
I am confident that these two workshops will assist us to develop a common understanding and language for everyone in our school community including students, staff and parents. These workshops will also tie in with and enhance our social and emotional learning platform that currently exists. I aim to have an environment in all classes, for all students, and at all times, that is friendly and supportive.
I look forward to your support of these two workshops and I encourage you to register with your children for the URSTRONG’s Language of friendship parent-child workshops on Wednesday 6th March.

Hello Everyone!
Our next school event is only a few weeks away and is one of the favourites of the year. Come set up your tent and sit under the trees watching the light fade amongst friends at the school.
Arrival and set up of your tents is between 4pm and 5pm (everyone to be packed up by 10am on the Sunday).
Bring your own picnic or pre-order your BBQ Packs. BBQs will be supplied.
Breakfasts can also be pre-ordered via the link below when you book your camp site.
This is an electronics free event – and that means EVERYTHING! Bring your favourite board games, pack of cards or prepare for an evening of chat and laughter.
Camp sites must be pre-booked and there is a strict limit due to space and facilities (over 20 sites already booked!!). $15.00 per camp site.
Sites are allocated on an ‘as come on the day basis’, detailed information for campers will be sent shortly.
If you are not able to camp the night we would still love you to join us for a picnic/BBQ on Saturday evening. Please note the gates will be locked at 9.30pm on the Saturday night.
All BBQ packs, breakfasts and camp site bookings can be made at:
https://www.trybooking.com/baupt
As with any event it would not be possible without volunteers. Help is needed in various ways Saturday afternoon to assist in the allocation of camp sites and set up of BBQs, Sunday morning we need breakfast cookers please!

Subject: Coding Club
Hello Year 3 parents,
Due to popular demand from your enthusiastic children, I will be starting a coding club for the Year 3s. Initially the club will run as a ‘lunchtime’ club on Fridays. It will start this week. Those that wish to be part of the club will need a SCRATCH login. https://scratch.mit.edu/ these are easy to set up and free. Please set your child up with a SCRATCH account and write their login and Password in the front of their diary for use at school. My account is superj1m and the children can take any of my content and change the code, making it their own.
A little about Scratch:
The MIT Scratch Team works with the community to maintain a friendly and respectful environment for people of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities. You can help your child learn how to participate by reviewing the community guidelines together. Members are asked to comment constructively and to help keep the website friendly by reporting any content that does not follow the community guidelines. The Scratch Team works each day to manage activity on the site and respond to reports, with the help of tools such as the CleanSpeak profanity filter..
In the club I will be setting simple tasks to introduce the students to types of code and how it can be used. I know some will want to play the games and start with the complicated stuff; this may be fun, but not as educational as I’d like. We’ll start with the foundations, then building blocks: simple to more complex.
Regards
Jim O'Raw
