Parents are asked to pick up their children before 3:30pm as there is no formal supervision after this time. However children under parent or carer supervision are always allowed to play in the school grounds at any time. Before and after school care is offered onsite and this is especially useful for working parents.

Many parents do stay later than 3:30pm for the social interaction with other parents, staff and children but responsibility to supervise all children lies with the parents after this time.

The school actively encourages after hours use of the grounds and buildings by various private groups for music & language tuition, drama & dance, workshops, meetings and parties.  We also host many birthday parties and functions organised by the parent body, eg quiz nights, new parent evenings & BBQs. Anyone interested in using/hiring our school facilities should contact our reception for further details.

The school does not have a formal uniform so the children dress suitably for the climate. The school does however enforce some conditions from time to time, like the “no hat, no play” policy during summer to protect from over exposure to the sun.  One polo shirt/T shirt is required to be purchased. These are generally required to be worn when the children go on excursions, play sport, go on camp or are representing Quintilian.

After School Care

The Outside School Hours Care program at The Quintilian School provides time for homework, time to relax, educational activities and a healthy snack. Best of all, our program makes time for kids to be kids – to play and explore, share with friends and enjoy these precious school years.

To be eligible for this program your child must be attending Quintilian and you need to register with Camps Australia HERE

All children have a designated undercover eating area and this is supervised by staff. Lunches are checked to see that the children are eating them and any unused items are kept by the children to take home so parents can monitor this.  We encourage parents to minimise packaging as much as possible so the use of a lunch box with washable containers is recommended.

The school has an arrangement with an online lunch supplier for delivered lunch orders. This is very popular with the children and is also at a reasonable cost too. When evaluating suppliers, the school looks at the quality, range, nutritional value and reliability before being recommended. Lunch orders are placed direct with the supplier online and delivered the next day, so some planning is necessary. Also children must bring lunches when they are on an excursion. The school does not take responsibility for the ordering of lunches but the students have a roster system in place to deliver the lunches to each classroom.

The school actively encourages children of suitable age to walk or ride to school and there are footpaths surrounding the school, however there are no cross-walks nearby. Some streets have 40Km/h flashing speed signs that come on during peak periods. There is a bus and train service close at hand for the older children if desired. Exit gates are supervised to make sure that only children allowed to walk or ride home do and all others are kept back until a parent picks them up. Many parents choose to drive their children to school but the school has limited on site parking and these fill quickly. There is a slip lane for drop off and pick up but no cars are allowed to be left unattended in this area.

School Buses

The school is very fortunate to own 2 x 27 seat buses to use when required. These are parked onsite in an undercover secure shed and can be used at any time. All the teachers have licenses to drive them. They are equipped with seat belts, air-conditioning, TV, video monitoring and are very comfortable. The school uses the buses for all excursions and camps. The school is an RAC member if road side assistance is required and the buses are maintained as per the manufacturer’s schedule or earlier.

Annual General Meeting

The school holds its Annual General Meeting in March of each year.

Whole school assemblies are held each Friday morning at 9:00am and feature a nominated class performance. The children love the opportunity to perform in front of the school gaining skills and confidence all the time. Parents and family friends are always welcome to attend.

Class Representatives

Each class has a parent representative (sometimes two) to co-ordinate class contact lists and arrange occasional social events for the year group parents.  They also ensure new families to the class are welcomed.

Orientation Days

Orientation for new students entering Quintilian in the following year is held in late November.  This orientation is a time for existing students and new students to come together in their classes for the following year, in a fun environment to meet each other and their prospective teachers and assistants.

Invitations are individually sent out to each child, asking them together with their parents to join us.  We ask parents to make arrangements for siblings – so their enrolled child is not distracted during the morning.
